Watch List: Who are the top players to watch this season in Berks football?
Over the past two weeks MikeDragoSports.com has revealed the 2022 “Starting Lineup,” a list of the top 12 football players in Berks County.
Now it’s time to present the “Watch List,” which includes more than five dozen top players from Berks’ 14 Lancaster-Lebanon League members.
The “Watch List” includes nine players from Wilson, the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 favorite, and eight from Wyomissing, the Section 4 favorite.
Conrad Weiser, Daniel Boone and Fleetwood each have six picks; Berks Catholic and Twin Valley have five apiece.
All 14 programs are represented on the 66-player list.
The list includes eight sophomores, including Gov. Mifflin tackle Mykell Ford, Wilson tight end Brady Kline and Conrad Weiser quarterback Donavan Gingrich. Ford and Kline were starters last season; Gingrich will get his first start Friday against Garden Spot.
The list includes 25 juniors, including Wyomissing’s Ryker Jones, Fleetwood’s Hunter Svoboda and Wilson’s Ryan McMillan, each of whom made an impact as sophomores and are expected to take bigger roles this season.
Like the “Starting Lineup,” the “Watch List” was selected by MikeDragoSports.com, with input from Berks high school and college coaches, and Ross Tucker, co-founder and CEO of GoBigRecruiting.com and a former NFL lineman.
Players were selected based on past performance, expected contributions this season and college potential. Two-way players were given special consideration.
