Wilson’s Brad Hoffman earns MVP in all-star game

Brad Hoffman capped off his Wilson football career by earning MVP honors in the Tri-County All-Star game Tuesday at Manheim Central.

Hoffman was named South MVP after throwing for 153 yards and rushing for 46 yards in a 27-17 loss to the North all-stars.

Hoffman was the lone Wilson player selected for the game, which featured the top seniors in the Lancaster-Lebanon League.

Hempfield quarterback Cam Harbaugh was named North MVP after passing for over 100 yards and rushing for two touchdowns.

Hoffman’s 10-yard TD pass to Garden Spot’s Derrick Lambert cut the South’s deficit to 20-17 with 2:15 left in the game.

Hoffman plans to attend Diamond Prep Academy after graduation.

He became the first Wilson quarterback to rush for 1,000 yards, leading the Bulldogs to a 9-4 record, the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 title and a spot in the District 3 Class 6A championship game.

He ran for 167 yards and a TD in a 14-11 win over Central York in semifinals; Wilson lost to Harrisburg 14-10 in the championship game.

Hoffman, in his first season with the Bulldogs after playing at Berks Catholic, rushed for 12 TDs and 1,080 yards; he averaged 6.1 yards per carry. He passed for 846 yards and 11 TDs.

Other Wilson players were considered for the game but could not participate due to playing spring sports.

The game was originally scheduled to be played last Friday but was postponed due to weather.

Berks players are expected to be invited to play in the all-star game next season; 13 Berks schools are set to join Wilson in the Lancaster-Lebanon League for the 2022 season.
