Stevie Mitchell earns postseason honors at Marquette
Wilson grad Stevie Mitchell received a pair of honors earlier this week at Marquette’s annual postseason basketball banquet.
Mitchell, a true freshman, received the Hank Raymonds Sportsmanship Award and shared the Academic Excellence honor with redshirt freshman Oso Ighodaro.

Mitchell played in all 32 games this season, averaging 10.8 minutes and 2.8 points. He had 30 assists and 22 steals.
It’s rare, according to a team spokesman, for a true freshman to receive Academic Excellence honors.
Mitchell was a two-time Berks Player of the Year at Wilson, where he scored 2,060 career points, fourth-most in Berks history.
The Hank Raymonds Award was established in 1983, in honor of the former Marquette head coach, who retired that year.
Redshirt freshman Justin Lewis was named Marquette’s Most Valuable Player. Redshirt freshman Olivier-Mzxence Prosper received the Gold Award as the team’s top defender.
The Golden Eagles finished 19-13 overall and were eliminated in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament by North Carolina.
Marquette went 11-8 in Big East play, including a pair of wins over Villanova. It was Marquette’s first sweep of the Wildcats since 2011-12.
