Alliance Fitness Center to offer free rock climbing series, “Climb Stronger”

Alliance Fitness Center is offering “Climb Stronger,” a free series of events designed to introduce and teach rock climbing skills at its Spring Ridge facility.

The series begins Sunday at 11 a.m. with: “Analyzing climbing physically and personal performance assessment” and continues at noon with “Introduction to Rock Climbing.”

Others sessions will be held on Feb. 20, March 6, March 13 and March 27.

Sunday’s sessions will introduce people to the equipment available at Alliance Fitness Center and to better methods of strength training, said Collin McGee, an internationally recognized climbing strength and conditioning coach.

McGee will host the six hands-on educational/training events.

McGee seeks to provide a better understanding of rock climbing and introduce training techniques that will mitigate injuries provide for more effective and safer trainer.

“We’ll provide essentials tips that will make rock climbing a lot less intimidating, and useful skills that will break the ice for a lot of beginning and new people interested in rock climbing,” McGee said.

Alliance Fitness Center continues to lead Berks County when it comes to innovative strength training techniques by introducing Reading and the surrounding region to the first strength training facility dedicated specifically to the sport of rock climbing.

All workshops are approximately 60-90minutes.

McGee is a 2016 graduate of Cornell University. His passion for improving his health and athletic performance, along with career-changing injuries, led him to physical fitness training. He believes in “providing fun, positive, training experiences based around education” to better people’s lives and sports performance.

McGee believes the health industry at this level is the first line of defense against preventable diseases and injury, as well as the most effective way to improve one’s quality of life.

Feb. 6: 11 a.m. “Analyzing climbing physically and personal performance assessment.”

Feb. 6: Noon “Introduction to Rock Climbing.”

Feb. 20: 11 a.m. “How to strengthen your fingers and tendons with training and climbing.”

March 6: 11 am “How to strengthen your upper limbs appropriately.”

March 13: 11 a.m. “How to think about lower limb strength and it’s unique uses on the wall.”

March 27: 11 a.m. “Dealing with and returning from rock climbing related injuries.”
