Kutztown University football is ranked No. 1 in the first numerical NCAA Super Region One rankings of the season.
The Golden Bears are the only unbeaten team in Super Region One and one of just six remaining unbeaten teams in NCAA Division II.
Kutztown slots in above a pair of 8-1 teams from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conferenc, Virginia Union and Johnson C. Smith.
Assumption out of the Northeast-10 is ranked fourth ahead of a trio of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference schools: No. 5 IUP, No. 6 California and No. 7 Slippery Rock.
Frostburg State (Mountain East) is eighth, with Fayetteville State (CIAA) and Charleston (W.Va.) (MEC) vying to break into the top eight.
Super Region One is composed of schools from the PSAC, CIAA, MEC and the NE10.
The NCAA expanded the DII Championship field to 32 teams for 2025, up from 28. The change adds automatic qualifying bids for 16 conference champions and eliminates first round byes for the top seed in each of the four super regions. The remaining 16 named to the playoff field will be at-large selections. Eight teams from each super region will qualify.
The final set of regional rankings will be released Nov. 10. The NCAA DII Football Championship Selection Show is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m.
Kutztown concludes its PSAC East schedule with a trip to Bloomsburg Saturday at 2. The Golden Bears are looking to improve to 10-0 for the second straight season and third time in program history.
