The Scouts (4-6) season may not be over. While they won’t be playing in the District 3 tournament, they remain in slim contention for an Eastern Conference playoff berth. Qualifiers will be announced Sunday.

Senior Brody McLaughlin led the Unionville rushing attack with 129 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns; he also caught a TD pass.

On his first play, McLaughlin ran for a 39-yard touchdown, surpassing 1,000 yards. He has 25 rushing touchdowns.

The Longhorns (6-4) rushed for 268 yards on 22 attempts. Running backs Shane Gilday and Nicholas Scattolino each scored touchdowns in the second half.

Unionville reeled off 21 unanswered points in the second half.

“No excuses, we have to get better as a program,” Conrad Weiser coach Alan Moyer said.

The Scouts had long drives and good field position, but couldn’t capitalize. Sophomore return man Kole Kupper returned three kickoffs into Longhorn territory.

“We practice special teams all week hoping to bust out a big play,” said Moyer. “You can always take positives out of a negative experience.”

Scouts quarterback Connor Sellars went 6-of-17 passing for 39 yards. He rushed for 41 yards on 19 attempts and caught a pass from wide receiver Kaiden Leonard for 7 yards.

Joseph Deprince led the team in rushing yards with 43 on nine attempts. Javien Rivera recorded 40 yards rushing on 14 carries.

Leonard caught three passes from Sellars for 25 yards and scored the Scouts’ only touchdown.
