Nick Singleton is Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Year
The Offensive Player of the Year award was presented to Nick Singleton Monday, but in reality the Gov. Mifflin senior could’ve collected it months ago. It was no secret before the season that the Gov. Mifflin running back was poised for a record-breaking year, and he went out and had one, smashing program and county records on a regular basis.
He became Berks’ all-time leading rusher, finishing with 6,326 yards . . . the all-time scoring leader, with 116 touchdowns and 700 points. . . matched a record for touchdowns in a game, with seven . . . and broke the single-season record for touchdowns, with 44.
He led Berks in rushing for the fourth straight season, finishing with 2,059 yards, and was a slam-dunk choice as Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Year.

“In addition to rushing for 116 touchdowns and 6,326 career yards, Nick has been managing a 3.51 GPA.
“He has been involved in the youth reading programs at Mifflin Elementary School,” Miller said. “Nick has also volunteered multiple hours at many Mifflin youth football camps and practices.
“The interactions with Nick at our office were always met with a firm handshake, eye contact and ‘yes sir,’ ‘no sir,’ and ‘thank you for your help.’ One talk with his parents immediately reveals why Nick is a successful young man. He is surrounded by an extraordinary support system, and it shows.

Mifflin student-athlete,” said Miller. “In a few short weeks Penn State University and Coach James Franklin will be welcoming not only a talented football player but an equally impressive young man.”
Singleton owns every rushing and scoring mark in the Gov. Mifflin record book, save one: Rushing yards in a game. He went for 330 in a District 3 playoff opener against Warwick. That came up short of Dustin Manz’s mark of 352, set in 2006.
Singleton does have the record for rushing yards in a regular season game at Mifflin: 289, vs. Episcopal Academy this season. That was one of the 10 200-yard games in his career; no one else has had more than three.
Each week throughout the season Berks coaches submitted nominations for Offensive Player of the Week. There were nine different weekly recipients. Singleton received the award five times. Conrad Weiser’s Logan Klitsch received it twice. Seven other players received it once.
All players received points based on being nominated or on being selected Offensive Player of the Week. The top vote-getters behind Singleton were: Klitsch; Jadyn Jones, Wilson; Diohnny Ruiz, Hamburg; Trey Freeman, Twin Valley; Eric Nangle, Exeter; and Lennon Neiman, Kutztown.
