Twin Valley’s Faubel and Grundy, Wyo’s Hardy earn top Section 4 honors

Twin Valley needed some help on the defensive line after the graduation of Ian Winchester, the Section 3 Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2023.
Carter Faubel showed up and fit right in with the Raiders. The 6-1, 285-pound senior was a two-way first-team all-league lineman as a junior at Delaware Valley last season. He proved just as dominant in the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
Faubel was named both Outstanding Lineman and Defensive Lineman of the Year in Section 4 Tuesday night at the league award’s banquet. Teammate Ben Grundy, a junior, was named Wide Receiver of the Year.
Wyomissing sophomore Justice Hardy was a unanimous choice as Defensive Back of the Year.
Speaking of unanimous choices you’ve got to mention Lampeter-Strasburg’s Caileb Howse, the no-doubt-about-it pick as both Outstanding Back and Offensive Back of the Year.
Howse was one of 15 first-team selections for the section and District 3 Class 4A champion Pioneers, including two-way pick Emory Fluhr, the Linebacker of the Year.
Wyomissing had eight first-team picks, Twin Valley seven.
Howse was one of eight two-way, first-team picks, along with Twin Valley senior Evan Johnson, Wyomissing junior Chase Eisenhower, Wyomissing senior Max Tipton, and Hardy. The Pioneers had four two-way picks.
The lone repeat first-team selection was Pioneers placekicker Peter Fiorello.
Joining Hardy on the first team are teammates Tyler Niedrowski, a junior linebacker; Keegan Maher, a junior punter; Eisenhower, picked at running back and linebacker; and Tipton, picked at offensive guard and interior defensive line. Hardy was picked as kick returner and defensive back.
Twin Valley’s first-team picks were Johnson, at running back and defensive back; senior Matt Knight, at wide receiver; senior Aris Drake, at tackle; junior Greyson Miller, at defensive end; Grundy, at wide receiver; and Faubel, at interior defensive line.
The teams were selected by the Section 4 head coaches.
