Three seasons ago Exeter engineered the greatest turnaround in Berks football history, beating Gov. Mifflin for the District 3 championship seven weeks after it had been mercy-ruled by Nick Singleton and the Mustangs.
Twin Valley faces the same scenario this week in a District 3 Class 4A semifinal, facing Lampeter-Strasburg less than a month after a 62-14 loss to the Pioneers. Can the Raiders turn the tables?
Unfathomable, it would seem, but some of the Fearless Forecasters are calling for it — hoping for it? — to happen. The unbeaten Pioneers are no doubt favored in the rematch but four Forecasters are going out on the limb this week with the Raiders.
Anything’s possible, right?
There’s one other interesting rematch this week, with Exeter facing the only team to beat it this season, Conestoga Valley. The Forecasters says Eagles’ controversial 28-27 loss last month was an outlier; they’re strongly siding with the Eagles in Round 2.
Each week, MikeDragoSports.com staff writers, photographers, and contributors, along with Jeff Reinhart and Mike Gross of football partner LNP/Lancasteronline, will pick all the Berks games, along with other selected other Lancaster-Lebanon League games.
We’ll keep standings and the Forecaster with the most points at the end of the season will get a (relatively) big prize!
Each correct pick earns one point; if a Forecaster “doubles down” on a Berks team and is correct he gets two points. Each Fearless Forecaster can “down double” on a team only once during the regular season (and once again during the postseason)
