Jayden Zandier’s early scores help Exeter make quick work of Pleasant Valley

All-State running back Jayden Zandier scored a pair of touchdowns in the first two minutes and Exeter completed another early season romp, beating error-plagued Pleasant Valley 49-0 Friday in a non-league game at Brodheadsville.
The Eagles (3-0) head into league play next week with an unbeaten record for the third straight year.
Quarterback Riley Martinez threw touchdown passes to Genuine Stutzman and Carter Redding and Exeter led 35-0 at the half.
Zandier returned the opening kickoff 79 yards for a TD and later ran for a 5-yard TD after the Bears fumbled on their first possession; he has a team-leading seven touchdowns.
Exeter has outscored its first three opponents 134-7.
Justin Prizer scored on a 43-yard run with 5:03 remaining in the opening half and the second half opened with a running clock. Junior Leo Brown and sophomore Josh Jackson ran for touchdowns in the second half.
Pleasant Valley, which slipped to 0-3, turned the ball over seven times. It has been shut out twice, the first 35-0 by Gov. Mifflin in a season-opener at Shillington. Exeter’s first three opponents are a combined 0-9.
The Eagles have won 11 straight non-league regular season games
Exeter opens play in Section 2 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League next week with a game against long-time Berks League Section 1 foe Gov. Mifflin at Shillington. The Eagles won last year’s game 31-9.
The Eagles are one of two unbeaten teams in Section 2 after three weeks. Conestoga Valley won its third straight Thursday, beating Dover 33-6, and has outscored its opponents 123-12.
Exeter finished third in Section 2 last season behind Manheim Central and Conestoga Valley. It lost to each of those teams over the final two weeks of the season. Manheim Central has moved to Section 3 this season.
Exeter and Conestoga Valley meet in Week 9 in Reiffton.
Matt Bauer inched closer to becoming the program’s all-time wins leader. He has 116 victories in 16 seasons. Don Thomas, the longest-tenured coach in program history, won 123 games over 24 seasons.
