Exeter dominated Boyertown all the way to a 49-7 non-league victory Friday night at Don Thomas Stadium in Reiffton.
Senior running back Jayden Zandier led the way with 230 total yards, one catch and three touchdowns. His lone carry in the second half resulted in a 67-yard touchdown.
After Exeter (2-0) was halted on their opening drive with two penalties and a punt, the Eagles followed up with seven straight touchdown drives. Four of their scoring drives took four plays or less to find the end zone.
The Bears (0-2) tried answering Exeter’s first score but a blocked kick stalled their momentum. The Eagles defense kept the Bears quiet until the final seconds of the half. Boyertown found the end zone on the final play of the first half. It was the first score allowed by Exeter this year.
The Eagles punted just once while the Bears were forced to punt on six different occasions. The lone turnover in the game was a fumbled snap by the Bears at the start of the fourth quarter.
Exeter quarterback Riley Martinez finished 6-9 for 95 yards and a touchdown pass before his night was over, never returning for the fourth quarter.
