Former Berks League MVPs and Gov. Mifflin teammates Tyler Minick and Connor Maryniak face tournament elimination games Monday in college baseball.

Minick, a freshman, and his University of Connecticut team will face top-seeded Oklahoma at 9 p.m. in the championship game of the Norman (Okla.) regional. The winner advances to the Super Regionals. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

Minick homered Sunday in a 6-4 loss to Oklahoma. The third-seeded Huskies opened the tournament with a 4-1 win over Duke, then beat Oklahoma 4-1.

Maryniak, a junior, and his Misericordia team meet Lynchburg Monday at 10 a.m. in the Division III World Series at Eastlake, Ohio. The Cougars need to beat Lynchburg twice to advance to the best-of-three championship series.

Maryniak went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs Sunday in a 12-4 elimination-game win over Endicott City.

Maryniak threw 98 pitches Saturday in a 6-2 loss to Lynchburg and likely will not be available to pitch Monday.

Also Monday, Louisiana State plays North Carolina in a Division I regional championship game at Chapel Hill. Wilson grad Luke Holman threw 6 2/3 innings for the Tigers in a 6-2 loss to the Tar Heels Saturday and likely would be unavailable to pitch Monday.

A win will send the second-seeded Tigers to the Super Regionals; a loss ends their season.

The game will be televised on ESPN2 at 6 p.m.
