More than six months after he played his last down at Wyomissing Caleb Brewer continues to collect awards.
The Penn State recruit was honored as the Manheim Touchdown Club Lineman of the Year last week at halftime of the Tri-County League All-Star Game at Manheim.
As a senior the 6-5, 275-pound Brewer was named the Defensive Lineman of the Year, Offensive Lineman of the Year and Outstanding Lineman in Section 4 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League; he was the only lineman in any of the five sections to pull off a clean sweep.
He was a force for a Spartans team that went 12-2, beat West Perry for its fifth straight District 3 Class 3A championship and opened the PIAA Tournament with a 48-27 win over Danville.
Brewer was also named the third annual recipient of the MikeDragoSports.com Lineman of the Year award.
He is one of just three Berks players ever named both Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Year in the same season. (The defensive award was initiated in 2001). He’ll go down as one of the best two-way linemen ever to play for the Spartans.
The other finalists for the Touchdown Club award were Ean Winchester of Twin Valley and Eli Rodriguez of Manheim Township.
Manheim Township quarterback Hayden Johnson was named the Touchdown Club’s Player of the Year.
The other finalists for that award were Aaron Enterline and Zac Hahn of Manheim Central.
