Five Fast Football Facts for Week 12
On the 40th anniversary of the District 3 football playoffs, some facts about the history of the tournament:

The record for rushing yards in a District 3 playoff game is 463, set by Dayjure Steward of York High, vs. Northern York in 2018. Wilson’s Iggy Reynoso set the record in Class 6A, with 285 yards vs. Central York in a 2016 quarterfinal.

Berks Catholic’s Trey Dabney has the longest scoring play in District 3 Tournament history, a 100-yard interception return vs. Lampeter-Strasburg in a 2016 Class 4A semifinal. The Saints won 46-21.

Central Catholic was the first Berks team to win a district football championship, taking the Class A title in 1983, the second year of the tournament. The Cardinals beat Littlestown 22-21 in overtime. The Cards were also the first Berks team to play in an overtime game.

Muhlenberg’s Nate Daniels has the record for passing yards in a District 3 playof game, with 450 vs. Hempfield in a 2008 Class AAAA opener. The Muhls won 41-38.

Manheim Central has a record 18 District 3 championships, the most recent in 2018 when it defeated Cocalico 48-14 in the Class 5A finale. Bishop McDevitt has 14 championships, Cumberland Valley and Steel-High 13 apiece and Camp Hill 10.
Wyomissing is the Berks leader with nine, including two in a row in Class 3A. The Spartans have also won titles in Class A and Class AA.
