Scouts enjoy major haul in Berks Section 2 all-league voting

In a season with some extraordinary individual talent it turns out Berks Football League Section 2 champ Wyomissing didn’t have all the best players after all.

It might’ve seemed that way, considering that the unbeaten Spartans mercy-ruled each of their six Berks 2 opponents and won league games by an average of 44 points. Still, Wyomissing landed just six first-team picks on the all-league team, as selected by Section 2 coaches.

Section runner-up Conrad Weiser led the way with eight first-team picks and four of the major award winners; Twin Valley also had six first-team picks.

Of course, Bob Wolfrum was again named Coach of the Year. It’s his third straight selection, seventh in eight years and 17th overall. Eventually they’ll name the award after him.

Three Scouts picked up major awards for the second straight season: Logan Klitsch was Offensive Back of the Year, Aanjay Feliciano was Receiver of the Year and Brett Organtini was Linebacker of the Year; Organtini was Defensive Lineman of the Year as a junior.

Other major award winners are Wyomissing’s Jven Williams, Offensive Lineman of the Year; Hamburg’s Cameron Harris, Defensive Back of the Year; Weiser’s Cameron Swanson, Defensive Lineman of the Year; and Wyomissing’s Jack Miller, who shared Linebacker of the Year.

Cameron Swanson

Twin Valley’s Dominic Caruso is a rare four-time first team pick. He was selected at defensive back. As a freshman and sophomore he was a first-team running back in Section 1. Last season he earned first-team honors at both running back and defensive back in Section 2.

Also of note: Hamburg’s Diohnny Ruiz, who has rushed for 1,187 yards and 14 TDs, earned first-team running back status for the third straight season.

Swanson, also picked at offensive tackle, is one of six two-way selections. He’s joined by Schuylkill Valley’s Drew Campbell, at all-purpose back and linebacker; Twin Valley’s Twin Trey Freeman, wide receiver and kick returner; Wyomissing’s Aiden Mack, tight end and defensive line; Twin Valley’s Ryan Corros, guard and linebacker; and Conrad Weiser’s Adam Noll, placekicker and punter.

Klitsch, who threw for over 2,400 yards and leads Berks in passing efficiency, is among seven repeat picks. He’s joined on that list by Feliciano and Freeman, wide receivers; Caruso and Harris, defensive backs; Organtini; and Ruiz.

Cameron Harris

Hamburg had four first-team picks, Fleetwood and Schuylkill Valley two apiece and Kutztown one.

The first team includes 25 seniors and just four juniors: Conrad Weiser guard Ethan Rex, Williams and Noll, who was selected twice.

The second team includes a freshman, Twin Valley punter Justin Pinciotti. There are five sophomores.

Wolfrum is in his 35th season and has a Berks-record 333 wins.

Voting was conducted by the seven Section 2 coaches; the six Section 1 coaches voted only for players in their section. All head coaches, including those from Boyertown and Wilson, will vote to select the All-Berks team, which will be announced in several weeks.

First-team selections will be honored at the Berks County Football Coaches Association banquet Dec. 1 at the Victor Emmanuel II Beneficial Society, at 6.
