10 Questions with Wyomissing’s Jack Miller, presented by ATT Sports, Inc.

10 Questions, presented by ATT Sports, Inc.

Each Wednesday MikeDragoSports.com goes one-on-one with a Berks football player, to find out what’s on his mind — on the field and off.

Jack Miller, Wyomissing

Senior, Guard and Linebacker

Q: You’re in charge of the lunch menu at Wyo. What’s the first thing you add? And the first thing you get rid of?
I would add chicken wings and I’d get rid of the Sloppy Joe.

Q: What did you do during the offseason to become a better football player?
I did a lot of lifting. I lifted five days a week and increased my total by 20 pounds. My teammates and I worked out together twice a week focusing on agility and speed at our turf field.

Q: You can get tickets to any college football game in the country. Where are you going?
I am going to Alabama to watch them play their rival, Auburn, in the Iron Bowl.

Q: If you could change one thing about high school football, what would it be?
I would extend the season so I could have even more time playing my favorite sport with my best friends.

Q: What’s your go-to burger/pizza place?
Mamas. They have the most variety, and the Buffalo chicken pizza there is the best!

Q: Which teammate would you least like to go head-to-head against in a game?
Amo (senior Amory Thompson). He would be a nightmare for me as a linebacker to have to tackle and cover because of how fast and shifty he is.

Q: You were a running back last season; now you’re playing guard. How did that happen?
One morning in Period One strength class Coach (Bob) Wolfrum came up to me and said: “Jack, I need to talk to you after class for a few minutes.” He told me I would be playing guard. He asked me if I was up to the task and I said yes, even though at the time I was very nervous and hesitant. Now I love blocking for my teammates and I get action on every play, which is great.

Q: Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to freshman at Wyo?
I would tell them to be themselves, focus on goals, and don’t worry what others think about them.

Q: What’s the one thing you’ll miss most about high school football?
I will miss the tradition and family feeling of Wyomissing football. There is nothing like strapping it up every day in the blue and white with your best friends you’ve known forever.

Q: What’s your favorite football memory?
Winning the district championship (38-16 over Middletown) last year. Even though we had a shorter schedule, I got a lot more playing time than my sophomore year and I knew I was a part of something special. Being a part of that hard-working team, and helping make it happen, was very rewarding.

10 Questions, presented by ATT Sports, Inc., will appear each Wednesday on MikeDragoSports.com throughout the 2021 football season.
