10 Questions with Wilson linebacker Nick Crocona, presented by UECU

Nick Crocona

Senior linebacker

Q: If you could make only one happen, which would it be: The Eagles win the Super Bowl or the Phillies win the World Series?

I wish I could just say both! If I had to choose one I would say the Phillies. I’ve already gotten to experience the Eagles winning a Super Bowl in my lifetime but I haven’t really been able to experience a Phillies World Series; I was too young to remember it when they won in 2008. If they end up winning it this year I would be super-excited!

Q: What’s the hardest hit you’ve ever taken on a football field?

Going back to little league when I played QB, I dropped back against Wyomissing and got completely blindsided. I remember laying on the ground for a while thinking, ‘Am I ever going to get back up?’ My head, neck, and upper back area were aching. After a couple minutes I was able to get up and walk off the field.

Q: What’s the best class in school right now?

My favorite is AP Microeconomics. I enjoy learning about the world’s market economy and how everyday economics affect us. My teacher Mr. (Chris) Wagner does a fantastic job.

Q: Who’s the hardest-working player on your team?

This is another tough one because we have a lot of hard workers on the team. I’d go with two: Rafael Fernandez and Nathan Capitano.

Ever since the loss to Harrisburg last season they have put the work in to be where they’re at this season. All the hours in the weight room they’ve spent and just grinding when no one else was, I commend them for it. They deserve everything they have accomplished.

Q: What’s your go-to burger place?

Easily Five Guys. Their burgers are the best I’ve ever had and I love the fact that when you order fries they give you an abundance of them. I also get an additional patty on my burgers.

Q: Who would win an arm wrestling competition on your team?

I would have to say either Ryan McMillan or Jack Dendall. They easily have the most pure strength on the team. I would love to see that go down.

Q: What’s the one thing you would change about high school football?

I would add instant replay. We all know that referees aren’t perfect. This would be game-changing and would make high school football even better.

Q: You can play a round of golf with anyone who ever lived. How do you fill out your foursome?

I would choose Kevin Hart, Adam Sandler, and Will Ferrell. These are three of the funniest people who have ever walked the planet. They would keep me entertained throughout 18 holes. There is no chance I would get bored or tired of hanging out with these guys!

Q: What’s the best thing about the football tradition at Wilson?

It has to be touching the bulldog before and after we come off the field. It’s our good luck charm. Keeping the winning tradition is a big deal. Team dinners every Thursday would be a close second.

Q: Who is the best football player ever to wear a Wilson uniform?

Without a doubt Cam Jones. Getting the opportunity to play with him these past few years has been unbelievable. He amazes me more and more each game. He really does it all.
